Bankstown Biennale
In 2020 Heidi Axelsen co-curated the inaugural Bankstown Biennale: Symbiosis together with Bankstown Art Centre director Vandana Ram. The artist commissioned included Alexandra Crosby & Ilaria Vanni, Alia Parker, Alison Clouston & Boyd, Bonita Ely, Christine Lai, Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro, Jason Wing, Joan Ross, Leah Smith, Machiko Motoi, Maddison Gibbs, Martyn Reyes, Nadia Hirst, Nicole Monks, Sarah Anstee, Selina Springett. Mtns Made
In 2022 Heidi curated and produced the Mtns Made broadsheet featuring the work of over 30 creatives in the Greater Blue Mountains area and produced with a creative team entirely from the Blue Mountiains.
Memorial to Indigenous Service Personell
In 2016 Heidi Axelsen was engaged as a freelance curator to Parramatta City Council to advise on the process of shortlisting and commissioning artists for a memorial to Indigenous Service Personell at Lennox Bridge in Parramatta. Shortlisted artists included Fiona Foley, Tess Allas, Jason Wing, Jane Cavanough, Jonathan Jones, Tony Albert, Daniel Boyd, Julie Gough, Brook Andrew, Reko Rennie, Janet Laurence. The selected artist was Jason Wing who created Fire Sticks 2020.
