Skittle Lane

As part of the City of Sydney’s Laneway Art program, the existing pipes and ducts of the dead-end lane inspire a new type of infrastructure: giant yellow ductwork periscopes peer over the buildings to the West. Instead of presenting the typical maligned vision of Sydney’s outer suburbs, the Peri(pheral)scopes have been taken over by video artists from Western Sydney (Vinh Nguyen, Saber Baluch, Fadia Abood and Zahra Alsamawi) showcasing the cultural diversity and everyday beauty of their home.

Location: Skittle Lane, Sydney, NSW
Dimensions: 16m in height (maximum)
Materials: Powdercoated ductwork, mirrors, video units.
Client: City of Sydney
Collaborators: Video works by Vinh Nguyen, Saber Baluch, Fadia Abood and Zahra Alsamawi.
